Why SR/XT?

Why?

I always wanted to ride a motorcycle (I think because my uncle rode, too). When I was 18 I took my driving test for car and for motorcyle. They introduced the minor class driving licence for motorcycles in these days. I was too young so I only was allowed to ride (max.) 27 bhp bikes. Because the money was very short (I went to school) I really low bought a 1981 Kawasaki Z 250 LTD. A 17 bhp single. That went very good but became too small very soon.

I wanted it bigger: a single, of course and with 27 bhp: I thougt for a Yamaha XT 500. That was it...

By chance my uncle (see above) decided to sell his SR 500 (2J4) and because that was a first step, I accepted it. And I was so satisfied with it that I forgot my wish for a XT (there were more important things to do).

Even though I meanwhile got the "big" motorcycle driving licence I still ride just 500 cc singles. They're really terrific motorcycles.

In september 2001 I met the SR/XT 500 IG Ruhrpott.

In 2002 I bought at last a 1979 1U6 model.

In february 2004 my XT got heavy damages by an accident. A rebuild was impossible. So I bought another XT, again a 1979 1U6 model.

2005 I came across Motorang and the AIA (Alteisentreiber IG Austria) , since then I'm a member h.c. there

In march 2006 I bought a SR 500 (48T) with a sidecar I wanted to sell herefore my 2. XT, but finally I kept it.

I took only two big journeys by motorcycle so far:
1989 to Ireland (5419 km in 3 weeks) and
2004 to South-West-England (1740 km in 4 days)

Usually I ride my singles every day, i.e. I daily go to work and back (about 50 km).

But I visit several SR- and XT- or other meetings.

I ride a motorcycle to go somewhere
