Reconstruction
In addition to the usual spare parts (there will be a complete overhaul, soon -
currently about 95.000 km), the following repairs were to be done:
Dezember 2005
A blind(?) can driver pushed me aside on wet tramway rails whereby I slid away and
finally grounded. The can driver briefly put on the hazard warning lights, then he
considered differently and struck himself off!
No chance to recognize the vehicle type or the number plate in the darkness. The
eye-witness could not make useful statements to the car, either. So the called police
patrol could only make little hope for me...
Damages: handlebar bent, bull's eye indicator broken, hand break handle destroyed,
brake pedal bent and broken off, foot rests damaged, muffler dented...
For I could ride home at all, I had to install a spare hand brake handle (I fortunately
always have one with me;-)) still at the accident scene. So I had at least ONE brake for
the remaining way home (not without the official admonishment to drive carefully;-), -
anyway).
February 2005
The rear tyre was flat again!!! This time it was a screw that stuck in the tyre!
Unfortunately the hole was bigger than with the safety-pin, so I did not reach home.
But, what a luck: The SR fits into our Kangoo (Back seat moved to the front and the rear door
open for a tire-wide aperture).
January 2005
If you start at one end... A safety-pin (!!!) stuck in my rear tyre. Ok. Removing the
wheel, patching the tube, in again. On that occasion I changed the brake shoes. I could have left
the old ones for a short while longer, but the new ones were there and if the wheel is out yet...
On reinstalling I saw a cleft in the muffler! Behind the rear footrest at the back of the
muffler a cleft of vibration rises at right angles to the direction of motion up to the top.
So let's have a look for a spare muffler...
Thanks to Martin I, who had something "littering" for me.
December 2004
For a longer period I had some problems with the ignition when it was raining. In dry
weather the SR went well. If it started raining it didn't take long time until the first
misfirings. After a short while I mostly stood at the kerb and waited the things to dry. And
really: after app. 10 minutes of waiting and several kicks I usually could continue with my ride.
First I detected the kill switch by "partial irrigation" as the cause.
On the return from Melderslo (autumn 2003) I recognized that to be false: Even with a disconnected
cable of the kill switch the SR permanently run off.
From now on I simply used my XT when it was raining.
Someday this problem got handled at a meeting of the IG Ruhrpott and the people agreed the ignition
coil to be broken.
With a spare ignition coil (thanks to Piepe!) I could extendly check and confirm this. Now it's ok
again.
June 2004
Fixing of the muffler split through (vibrations?). Became welded.
some time ago (1998 ???)
The generator was killed by water (!?).
Once (1989 ???)
I had a broken cage of a bearing of the camshaft, that is one bearing
of the camshaft got lost of its balls and so the camshaft lost its fixing. The
camshaft was damaged. I directly exchanged it with the tempered one, with new
rockers, too.
