A short trip for a weekend to the wedding of a dear friend in South-West-England on 03.-05.09.2004
I rode for a weekend to England with my SR because of the wedding of a dear friend
Originally I wanted to go there by my XT. But this got an electrical defect two days before start:
The generator cable has come into the chain. One wire was cut another damaged.
The headlight was without function now even the loading of the batterie. After the repair of
the cable it didnt't properly work again. But this I could not finally check until my return from
England: It was a loose contact in the lamp. Temporary it worked and temporary it didn't.
So I did the ride with my SR.
At all 1740 km. Around 10 hours driving time there and another 10 hours back.
There are enough filling stations along the route to ride 150-200 km stages. Just twice I had to
put on reserve. In the other cases a filling station was near.
For me the best ferry was the night ferry Calais to Dover.
